At various times of the year you may need to feed your bees. Below are some contacts where you can purchase Sugar and Ambrosia.
Booker Cash & Carry

They require some ID, but will allow members of the public to have a Day Pass. Payment is by Cash or Debit Card only. It is worth asking for damaged packs of sugar, as they are still suitable for feeding bees, and will be cheaper. You can buy 25kg sacks, or 6 x 2kg packs.
Farm Foods

In early August they were selling 2 x 1kg bags for £1. You will need to contact the store beforehand to check stock levels if you need a lot.
Wilkinsons
The store in Bedford was running a similar promotion to Farm Foods.

Ambrosia
This can be purchased from a range of Beekeeping Suppliers. Check out Thorne's, Maismore Apiaries, Blue Hell Hill Apiaries, etc. This is inverted sugar, so is less prone to going mouldy.
Sugar Syrup for Autumn feeding should be mixed at a ratio of 1kg to 1 Litre of hot water (so that it will dissolve quickly). Allow to go cold before feeding to the bees.
Ensure you clean your feeders regularly as sugar syrup goes mouldy very easily and can make any Nosema in the hive much worse.
